Anagāriya - Mokṣadeva

single-channel video, colour, sound, 3D animation, FHD 1920x1080, 24fps, 17'56''

The project stages a dialogue between geological deep time and human action through second-person narration, travel writing, and slow-motion explosions.

Anagāriya - Mokṣadeva is the 2024 Mokṣadeva chapter of the Anagāriya series. It moves through a rendered desert terrain where clouds, rocks, smoke, subtitles, and slow-motion explosions keep returning to the same question: how small a human action looks when it is placed against geological deep time.

The work does not treat the landscape as a passive background. The canyon, cave, aerial ground, and blasted dust become a temporal body: a place that receives speech, impact, and belief while staying older and less obedient than the narrative that crosses it.

Process notes

I built the chapter on a virtual geological stage and kept the address in the second person, so that you stay inside a route rather than watching one from outside. The animation lets impact show itself — smoke, dust, displaced stones, a scale that keeps shifting — across a rendered desert of canyons, caves, aerial ground and slow-motion explosions. Each blast and each line of subtitle is measured against geological deep time, until a human action looks brief and a little absurd beside a terrain older and less obedient than the story crossing it.
